The Flax – immersing students in the world of AI
Future Learning and Augmented Xperience.
How do you not only help students understand artificial intelligence, but truly experience it? For university college VIVES, we built ‘The Flax – House of AI’, with Flax standing for Future Learning and Augmented Xperience.
Visitor journey
Here too, we did not start from the technology, but from the goal. We first mapped out the visitor journey and brought together a range of experts around the table for this purpose – from AI specialist Mieke De Ketelaere to the experience of Health House. Together, we examined the top-level storytelling and developed recognizable characters that return throughout the story, so that students can truly identify with it. After that, we brainstormed the interactive games that introduce visitors to AI in a playful way.
Large experience center to fill in
From virtual reality and 360° projection to custom applications and countless LEDs: we pulled out all the stops to fully immerse students. Combined with an exceptional design and impressive furniture – realized with strong partners – Flax became an experience that makes both the positive and the less positive sides of AI tangible. “Thanks to the combination of audio, lighting and interactive screens, students learn about AI in a different way and also remember the information better,” says coordinator Griet Verbeke.
